Volunteer

Being a Nightline listener

Volunteering with McGill Students’ Nightline is a challenging, dynamic, but immensely rewarding experience. You will learn and practice the skill of active listening and get to meet amazing fellow volunteers in the process!

To volunteer with us, you must:

  1. Be a McGill student
  2. Be comfortable conversing in English
  3. Be passionate about providing a listening ear to others!

Ready to apply?

There are a few steps to becoming a volunteer:

Round 1: Written application
Round 2: Zoom interviews with a Nightline external executive member
Round 3: ~40 hours of mandatory training in late September (during the period of one week)

Our applications are open! Please fill out the written application form here

Please note that applications will be accepted and processed on a rolling basis until September 16th. This means that interviews and acceptances will happen first for those who apply first. Since applications will close once our training quota has been filled we recommend applying early!

Re-applying

Every semester, we receive many more excellent applicants than we can train, and unfortunately, we cannot invite everyone to volunteer with us. However, if you apply and are not accepted, we highly encourage you to try out in a subsequent semester!

Want a reminder?

If you are not ready to apply and would like to receive a reminder email, please fill out the following google form and we’ll reach out to you before the end of the recruitment period.

N.B.: There have been issues with our email being sent to junk mail in the past. If you have not heard from us by September 16th please send a message to : nightlinerecruitment@nightline
