What is Chatline?
Chatline is a student-run online extension of McGill Students’ Nightline. It is a confidential, anonymous, and non-judgmental instant messaging service. Chatters will be connected to one of our volunteers through an anonymous platform. Our volunteers are trained in active listening and crisis management, and can provide information, referrals, and more. Everyone is welcome to use Chatline.
We are happy to announce that after a period of technical difficulties affecting our service, we will be reopening Chatline tonight from 6pm-3am! We appreciate your patience during our closure. We are always seeking to provide a better version of our service, and are glad to be able to share it with you now. Although we have a new look, we’re still here to listen as always. As this is a new step for our site, we welcome your feedback via our anonymous form.
To use Chatline, please click the round purple icon in the bottom right corner of this screen. During our opening hours, this will allow you to connect to one of our volunteers.
Please note that while Chatline is currently open, due to exceptional technical difficulties, our phone lines are currently not in operation. We will be posting updates here or via our social media as we work to restore the phone lines. You can also click here for other phone lines, chat lines and resources.
